Are you asking yourself whether this page really belongs in a web site about an apartment for rent in Paris? It is true that in culinary matters, the French have a lot to boast about. But we believe that as far as good coffee is concerned, the Italians are unbeatable. The apartment features a Nespresso maker for those who are so inclined, but also has a simple Italian moka pot and some excellent Italian ground coffee, which we think makes the best espresso in the world (and it comes out HOT). Here’s how to use it:
Step 1: Fill the bottom chamber of the moka pot up to just below the air valve.
Step 2: Put in the coffee basket.
Step 3: Loosely fill the coffee basket with ground espresso – we like Illy or Lavazza Gold. How full you fill it depends upon how strong you like your coffee to be, but just be sure to not tamp down the coffee.
Step 4: Screw the top chamber on tightly and put the coffee pot on the smallest burner on medium and wait until you hear the coffee begin to bubble up into the upper chamber.
Step 5: A few seconds after the sound of the coffee coming up begins, turn off the gas. Even with the gas off, the coffee will continue percolating for a few moments.
Step 6: Pour yourself a cup of steaming espresso and congratulate yourself on having decided to rent our apartment that features all you need to make an excellent Italian espresso! (Or heat some wonderful French milk in the microwave and add the espresso for a nice cafe au lait!)
