Transportation

Getting to Poggio Verde

By air: Fly into Malpensa (MXP) or Linate (LIN).
From Malpensa: Milan Express train to Saronno to be picked up. Or do an e-vail car (see “by car” below).
From Linate, take the taxi to Garibaldi train station and train up to Cernusco-Merate (Cernusco Lombardone) OR catch an e-vai car for 5 euros (40 minute drive to Barzano, drop off at Alzate Brianza). Or arrange for pickup. 🙂

By train
Cernusco-Merate (also called Cernusco Lombardone) is the nearest train station to Barzano – a bit less than 20 minutes away. Arrange ahead of time to be picked up.

By bus: info coming

By car:
Rent a car at the airport or another location.
E-Vai
(pick up at Malpensa, drop off in Alzate Brianza OR pick up at Linate and drop off at Giussano – 5 euros): http://www.malpensaexpress.it/en/malpensa-express/services/car-rental.aspx
E-vai requires an international drivers license ($15 at any AAA office or through the mail) and the cars do not have GPS but it’s a great option for those of us who are adventurous and like maps. 🙂 Or if you have an international data plan on your phone of course you can use that to get directions.

GETTING AROUND

BY CAR
We’ll need a car for every four to six people. As schedules are arranged, we can work out the car situation.  If you are renting a car, GPS is highly recommended.

Go to www.viamichelin.com to research driving routes, including costs for tolls and gas.
Also go to www.maps.google.com – does a great job with maps but does not provide cost info.
